Give more priority to the Ethernet connection over WiFi - Windows 7
If your
laptop typically uses a WiFi connection, you happen maybe the WiFi
connection is active, even if you connect your computer via a wired
Ethernet connection. To automatically switch to the Ethernet network, you must give it a higher priority than WiFi.
- Simultaneously press the Windows key and R.
- In the Run window that appears, enter the command ncpa.cpl.
- In the Network Connections window that appears, press the Alt key to display the menu bar. Click Advanced and then click Advanced Settings.
-
Select your WiFi connection and click the green arrow down to decrease
its priority so that it is under your Ethernet connection.
- Finally, click OK. When you connect via WiFi and Ethernet, the Ethernet connection will have priority.
