The executable file association virus deletes the "Regkey" that associates ".exe" files with the proper Windows execution. The virus can be contracted while browsing the web, from an infected file, or even from pictures and documents. Once the damage is done, Windows will show a window similar to the one below, and will ask you for the correct program with which to open the file.
An acceptable metaphor would be your clothing drawers, where the chest represents Windows, and the clothing the files. Let's say pants represents the ".exe" file type. When you look for your pants, you first look in the place you left them while organizing your clothes. This is what Windows does when looking for the correct execution for the ".exe" file. If it cannot find it, Windows will ask you where to look. To fix this, we must re-associate the ".exe" file to the correct execution. By reinserting the "Regkey" into Windows, we can fix the issue.
How to Fix the Executable File Association Virus in Windows

Step 1 Download Regkey

The "Regkey" is readily available online, and here is the ZIP file you'll need. Once downloaded, extract the file.

Step 2 Install Regkey

Double-click the extracted file and accept the "Regkey" administrative control.

Tip

  • Ensure you have administrative rights.

Warnings

  • Don't install Regkey unless you know for sure that you've been infected.
  • I am not responsible for any damage you cause your computer.

While becoming the next Mark Zuckerberg may be out of reach for someone just getting introduced to code, the skill has never been more valuable. Just understanding basic programming language is a great thing to put on your resume, and if you know how to code, you’re golden. Software developers and programmers have been the most resistant to the recession, as jobs in the tech industry continue to grow.
So what can you do to help yourself break into such a lucrative job market without having to sell your car to help pay tuition? Well, there are a few free programs starting up in a new effort to help people pick up the necessary job skills to compete in such a difficult job market.

The Boston Startup School

The Boston Startup School is offering a free, intensive 6-week program that includes software development, marketing, sales and business development, as well as product design. The program was created to help the massive influx of startup companies find and groom potential employees. While the program is free, the competition is fierce, similar to most graduate programs or Chinese arcade dens. If you are interested you can apply here.

Code Academy

Code Academy is another startup that is offering free courses for those interested in learning code. They have a team of programmers that upload tutorials and exercises for members to follow and practice.
The exercises are free for all those that sign up, and the sign up process is fun and easy. Just go to their homepage and start the introductory lesson.
After you complete the lesson, just fill out the form with your information and you will receive this in your email.
Now you can enjoy your free lessons!

Code Year

Code Year is another program created by Code Academy to get more people involved in coding. The program offers weekly lessons, one new on every Monday, for the 2012 calendar year. Subscribers will learn JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and jQuerey.

Mozilla School of Webcraft

The School of Webcraft is another free option. Unlike the programs above, this one is peer-to-peer style, where users take lessons created and challenges created by other users, and discuss solutions or problems. You can earn badges by completing a challenge or uploading one of your own.
And if these programs are not enough, or don't meet your coding standards then MIT and UC Berkeley have free access to their lectures and webcasts. There are years worth of lectures in the archives so you will have plenty to comb through.
Do you know of any other free learning-to-code programs?

Blogging is a great way to make money online from the comfort of your home writing about what you love. While this online business idea can get you money in the bank, this can only happen if you have readers who visit your blog regularly to read your content. Needless to mention, you need to have a good number of visitors and they need to bear some of the following qualities;
- Consistent
- Reliable
- Great conversationalists
- Good commenters
It is not impossible to find a following on the internet but it is extremely vital that once you get people interested in what you have to say, you must give them a reason to always want to come back and read some more.
Here are a few ways to make that happen.

Do not let yourself become irrelevant

This is what has come to be known as topic discipline in blogging. If your readers feel at any one time that they will not get the information they want form you, they will go to other sites that can provide it. Focus your energy on topics that are relevant to what they like reading about and do not diverge to uninteresting stories.

Plan to please your readers

Your readers need to know that you know what to write when. It is therefore upon you to create an editorial calendar for your blog that spans for at least a few months. This way you do not have to dream up topics spontaneously that will offset the rhythm and consistency your readers like to see. It will also help you keep your readers abreast with what to expect in your next blog post

Promote your work as much as you can through social platforms

As much as your readers may enjoy reading your blog content, it may be a little too much to expect them to go in search of you every time they need to know if you have a new blog post. Make it easy for your visitors by engaging them on social sites like Twitter and Facebook with updates on your latest articles. All they have to do is click on a link and there you are. It endears your blog to them more.

Create tangible connections with consistent visitors

Nothing pleases a blog visitor more than being noted and appreciated. Invite frequent blog readers to guest post on your blog and from there exchange emails and even calls with them. This will not only keep them coming, it will also encourage them to tell other people about your blog and invite them to read.

Never run out of posts

This is perhaps the worst thing that can happen to a blogger. Running out of ideas of what to write for your blog readers will make their confidence and interest in you fade and fade fast. Getting back a gone reader is harder than retaining an interested reader. Always have a new post for your readers to enjoy.

Create a commanding online person

Your readers like you and your work. This is why you must not try to ape someone else’s work or style of putting ideas across. Make yourself heard in a clear and creative way and be an authority in what you write about. Try making use of these 6 tips to keep readers coming back to your blog and you will never regret it.

Tethering your Android phone basically turns it into a mobile hotspot, allowing you to funnel a 3G or 4G internet connection from your phone into your PC or laptop via USB. As you might expect, phone carriers brought the hammer down in an effort to stop users from getting around the fees they charge to normally allow you to do this.
Luckily, the FCC has stepped in and has made Verizon stop its block on tethering apps. AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile users are unfortunately unaffected by this ruling, but if you have a Verizon plan (or you think that your carrier won't find out, which is likely), here's how you can easily turn your phone into an internet hotspot.

Step 1: Activate USB Debugging

Go into your Android phone's menu and select Settings --> Applications -->Development. In that window, check the box that says USB Debugging.

Step 2: Download PdaNet

Go to the Google Play marketplace (previously the Android Market) and run a search for PdaNet, or just click here. Download and install that app.
On the PC or laptop you want to give internet access to, go to the PdaNet website and download the appropriate free PdaNet version for your operating system.
Note: PdaNet is free, but limits secure browsing. You can purchase the full version right now for $15.95.

Step 3: Connect Your Phone to Your Computer

Connect your phone to your computer with a USB cable. Then run the PdaNet app on your phone and choose Enable USB Tether. The app will begin running as a background service.
On your computer, there will now be a small phone symbol in your system tray. Right-click on that and hit Connect to finish the tether.
You should now have 3G or 4G internet access on your computer. Be careful how much data you use though, as your carrier may become suspicious if you are downloading an extreme amount.

PdaNet on the iPhone?

If you want to use PdaNet on your iPhone, you're going to have to jailbreak the device, since Apple hasn't allowed PdaNet into the iTunes App Store because it "avoids your carrier's tether plan". But now thanks to the FCC's ruling, it might finally make an appearance.

There's a lot of stuff on YouTube I want to have on my hard drive, especially when it comes to music; only having access to it through a browser is kind of a pain. Luckily, VikiTech has discovered a fast and reliable method for downloading streaming content off of YouTube using VLC, a free media player.
VLC is one of the most robust media players out there, and can handle a lot of formats that software such as QuickTime and Windows Media Player can not. If you don't already have it, VLC is completely free and available for download here.

Step 1: Stream the Video to Your VLC Player

The first step is to open VLC's network stream. You can do so by going into the Media tab in the menu bar and selecting "Open Network Stream."

Step 2: Choose the YouTube Video

Where it says "Enter a Network URL," put the URL for the YouTube video.
You can also set the cache size and the video start point by checking the "Show More Options" box. Increasing the cache will give the video smoother playback on a slower connection.

Step 3: Convert the Video

Click on the dropdown arrow next to the "Play" button and change it to "Convert." Browse to the destination folder and set the preferred file format. For an audio file, choose MP3 if you want to add it to your iTunes library or put it onto a mobile media player.
If this process is taking too long for you, or if for whatever reason you don't have access to VLC, there are other options out there. For exampleDirect YouTube Downloader is a free application that allows you to batch queue an entire channel's worth of content, as both videos or MP3.

We've all needed to copy text from an image at some point or another. If it's only a few words, it's no big deal to just type it out, but if you need to capture a whole block of text, that could take a while. Luckily, there's a free app you can download to do all the hard work for you.
It's called GTText and it's super simple to use and supports TIFF, JPG, GIF, BMP and PNG files.
You can copy all the text on an image or choose a specific section if you don't want the whole thing. It even supports other languages and works with PDFs, as well.
So the next time you find yourself in this situation, give GTText a try instead of wasting your time retyping. Click here to download it, or check out this article to learn more on how it works.
